“Only steers and queers come from Texas, Private Cowboy. And you don’t look much like a steer to me so that kinda narrows it down.” — Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick’s FULL METAL JACKET
I searched Texas for the famed steers and queers, and I found but one steer. So, I rode it. For a good 10+ seconds:
And then I found the queers!
If you look closely enough, you’ll see a brown ghost.
Texas, you meet expectations.
I don’t want to look that closely.
I will be using this photo in my post as well. I should think that obvious.
@whit, Deep down you do. Go ahead and enjoy it. We don’t mind.
Ditto.
(I know that doesn’t really make a lot of sense, but it does in the movie reference part, and that’s good enough for me. I could’ve said, “Whoopie!”, instead.)
@SL, I like “ditto.” It was moving.
Is that the Righteous Brothers I hear playing in the background?
@LA, It is indeed! I love a good melody when it’s free from chains.
A brown ghost. Dude, you scare me.
@CMG, You’re not going to hunt me down with your paranormal team, are you?
i miss living in austin. the twins were born there & we would love to go back. ben’s going to obtain his texas bar license through reciprocity. i wouldn’t complain if we moved back.
sounds like you had a good time. hope you got some good tex-mex.
@Jenny, This was my 2nd trip (first was ’99); I didn’t see much of the city but did enjoy my stay. Next year, I think I’ll go up a couple days early.
Best Dad 2.0 recap yet! Nice ridin’ there, Tex.
@beta dad, I plan a longer one later in the week (I hope).
nicely done. until the brown ghost part.
@JCO, I thought that was the best part! I’m sorry I failed you, precious reader.
I still have to post the pics of you on the horse. Epic weekend.
